Docutrol is a computer-based copier management system that was developed to provide improved functionality and a friendlier interface over the common keypads that are found on many photocopiers. The system incorporates a touchscreen, computer, and custom hardware to track all copier activity. Because it is based on a computer, it can be customized in a wide variety of ways to best fit your needs. The computer prompts the user to enter information, that you have specified, before the photocopier will be allowed to make copies. It will accurately and automatically collect data on who makes copies and how many are made to help ease the task of record keeping. The Docutrol computer can send any of this information to local or networked printers, or to another computer on your network. The ability to record information on the usage of the copier will enable you to prevent abuse, assist in budgeting, and detect problems early on. This information could also help simplify departmental accounting by having the data sent directly into an accounting system to be automatically worked into client billing.

Docutrol avoids the danger of using a centralized computer system. In the event the central computer becomes inoperable, EVERY photocopier and management system would no longer function correctly. Those problems are avoided because each Docutrol unit is self-contained. There are no extra cables to run, as in centralized systems, and should you decide to move a photocopier, it is just as easy to move Docutrol along with it.
